Frequently Ask Question

Please call or write if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Polygraph Professionals of North Georgia is American Polygraph Association (APA) and Georgia Polygraph Association (GPA) certified.

A polygraph measures your physiology through the three components which are attached to your body. The physiology collected and recorded from your body are your heart rate, your breathing and your sweat gland activity. To collect the data, we use a computerized, state of the art polygraph instrument. The stimuli given in order to collect this physiology will be in the form of questions which are structured and phrased in a certain way in a quiet, maintained environment.

Hundreds of studies have been conducted on the accuracy of the polygraph, many conditions and factors will vary, and polygraph examinations are complex so it’s difficult to give an exact figure from the data collected. For a specific issue exam, however, conducted by a professionally trained examiner, the accuracy is around 95%. Some other independent studies have found the accuracy to be as high as 98%.

All physiology differs from one person to the next, and most people are nervous when they take a polygraph. Being nervous will not cause you to fail a polygraph but lying will.

The polygraph can be admissible in court, it varies.  The most used excuse for not taking a polygraph exam is that it is not admissible in court but if that were the case then why do police and all federal agencies use it if they did not believe it worked?

All federal agencies including the FBI, CIA, DEA, Secret Service, Law Enforcement and the private sector.

To prepare for your polygraph please ensure you have:

  • Had a good night’s sleep
  • Eaten some breakfast
  • Taken all your prescribed medications

Polygraphs can be a good tool to help you move forward in your relationship

Relationships can be complicated. Whether you’re married, thinking of getting married, or simply in a long-term relationship with someone, we all have ups and downs. Sometimes, we hit a rough patch, and doubts and fears about our partner’s fidelity arise.

Do you know where your significant other is right now?

On the day of the test, you can come to the appointment as a couple or just the person testing. First, you will talk to the examiner about what brought you to this point today. The examiner will want to know some background about your relationship and will ask you some questions. If you have formulated your own questions the examiner will look over them.
